Sneaker Waves In The Pacific Ocean Poem by Ray Andrews

Sneaker Waves In The Pacific Ocean

Out there bounding along
Disappearing and reappearing
Mingling with like kind
Racing with the wind

Ignored by fish and fowl
And hidden by his brothers
A powerful chameleon
Underestimated by tourists

He waves with innocence
Bobbing happily amongst
The foam and blue
Future victims not alerted

A breeze carries him close to shore
Full of evil stealth, he's
Ready to strike
Ready to devour

When it's right
He'll raise up and Pounce!
No longer a friendly wave
Now angry and vicious

Racing far above tide's level
He engulfs all in his path
Pulling, tumbling, roaring
Receding in foamy destruction

A lurking enemy
Not much we can do
Beach walkers be wary
He may grab you
