So Many With Heavy Life Crosses To Bear Poem by Francis Duggan

So Many With Heavy Life Crosses To Bear

So many with heavy life crosses to bear
Who constantly live on the brink of despair
Of ever rising above their extreme poverty
There is no such a thing as human equality.

Except in death and for that the Reaper credit is due
To equality the taker of life remains true
Yet he is the one that the living does fear
Even mention of him most do not wish to hear.

In a Human World where thousands grow poorer for every new millionaire
The poor are entitled to say life is unfair
That people are dying of malnutrition every day
Does seem such a sad thing for to have to say.

In factory doorways or under the stars light
So many must try to sleep hungry tonight
Compared to them it does seem that you and me
Are so very lucky would you not agree.
