Some Vestige Of The Former Poem by moon batchelder

Some Vestige Of The Former

some vestige of their former selves remain; the way they were -
remembered well in poloroids,
in albums on the shelf.
the barefoot wedding, - woodstock honeymoon,
grafitti covered hippie van;
they'd painted it themselves-.

forgotten, like a dream when morning comes, their passions waned. -
the flowers once worn in their hair
now languish in a vase.
their closets have no secrets from those days.
the birkenstocks and tie-dyes gone,
vanished without trace.

the notions and the fashions then embraced were just a fad; -
a simple case of teenage angst,
a phase they'd soon outgrown.
now three piece suits and
two door grey sedans;
are tired and time-worn evidence:
they serve the status quo.
