Songs Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Songs

Songs

I recall, in those days,
There were no recorders
Neither the radios, speakers.

But people, like today,
Were after whatever
Brought joy, pleasure.

Women danced, in hiding,
Shepherds sang in terrains.

They played their flutes
And spoke with the leaves.

Many followed beliefs
Of God, their supreme,
Prayed to his agents,
And went for pilgrimage.

Men went to welcome them
As soon as were aware…

I, a kid, followed them
A man sang, I observed.

They called it "Chavoshi, "
Singing was soft, sweet,
With poems of Saadi
And few, of Hafez.

Singing, dance, music,
Form the heart of being.

Liberty, freedom
Must always prevail
By peace, or bloodshed.

I oppose censorship
Imposed by the power,
And wealthy, religious,
Using the Heaven, Hell.
