Sonnet: All Elderly Need Love And Care Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: All Elderly Need Love And Care

The elderly were children, once in life;
No one prevents the ageing process, but
Their memories of youth are green and rife;
By diseases, the thread of life gets cut.

Most lands have ageing people in excess;
Yet, families are turning smaller still;
The white-haired cannot remember or dress;
At times, they tend to fall so very ill.

The senior citizens need care and love;
They pine for enquiries about their health;
Miraculously, God tends from above;
Death haunts the aged and steals such souls by stealth.

You cannot mercy-kill the people aged;
The world ignores their needs and keeps most caged!
