Sonnet: How Did I Get Here? Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: How Did I Get Here?

When millions get aborted every day –
Most babies healthy, beautiful, wholesome,
And rights of children are ignored some way,
Where have the laws gone and human freedom?

That I am born and staying fit is great;
More than the Maker, Man appears to rule!
He tries to have a say on others’ fate,
With sinful criminality like mule.

A great wonder, I am alive today;
I go through jaws of death in umpteen ways;
The risks to long life-span are in man’s sway;
The child or elderly just count their days.

The question ‘how did I come here? ’ remains
Much stranger, mysterious than sun or rains.
