Sonnet: Must We? Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Must We?

Rating: 5.0

Must we send men to moon when some had quit?
Must we spend such huge sums on deterrence?
Must we ignore the corrupted who sit?
Must we hold criminals with reverence?

Must we neglect the common man’s future?
Must we allow loopholes in laws of land?
Must we abandon our Mother Nature?
Must we not rich and poor walk, hand in hand?

Must we allow the population boom?
Must we deny men basic human rights?
Must we to politics give much more room?
Must we sleep on with current-cuts at night?

Must we belittle our nation’s prestige?
Must we become just a global vestige?
