Sonnet: The Lambs Are Meek... Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Lambs Are Meek...

Spare him, O God, from punishments on earth,
For man is not as strong as he may claim!
The many risks he undergoes from birth
Turn him a beast that finally looks tame!

Help him, O God to live a decent life,
For Mother Nature’s furies cruel seem;
And devils loosen hell on man by strife,
As wasteful turn his labour and his dream!

Have mercy, God, on man, for he is yours;
With love you turned the clay to living toys!
Without your help, he can never rejoice,
He dances to your tunes but with much noise!

Shower on him, your grace for times are grim;
And let your pots with joy fill up to brim!
