Sonnet1 Poem by Arunesh Goswami

Sonnet1

And I’ve escaped my hope
Nothing of this vain world I desire
The storm which comes thou bringst unto me love
Penetrating thru this mire;
Those days are gone when I aspired for fame
Those days are gone when I doubted thy hope
With the sound of the falling raindrops I feel again
The sweet railings of my love;
I m now a ship standing still
Upon the mild and stormy sea
I m now a soul dreaming of my will
Like the deep rooted old tree;
The tainted winds of doubt and attachment
Blew past me every now and then
And threatened my spirit to conqueror again
With uncertain times so different;
Hey listen, I m dead to this world and life
I m dead to man and thought
I m asleep and to sleep I m alive
And I m alive to God;
And I m alive to the country I belong
I m alive to my brother and friend
Who send thru the wind thy tone
Slowly, it takes me home.
