Sorry, She Said Poem by Diana van den Berg

Sorry, She Said

She turned to him
and said she was sorry
but she had to go
far away
forever.

He asked why
and opened
his arms and his heart and his voice
and she flew
into them.

That was all she needed...

but...

though, it broke her heart,
she just couldn’t stay
so she had to say.
