SOUND OF DEATH
Kanyakumari Super fast, damn old 23 coaches,
had passed Villupuram by 8.30 pm
passengers were preparing to rest
........ a loud thud rocked from undercarriage
eye brows were raised at the unusual swing
but nothing untoward noticed and journey
continued - very few, still unwilling to settle down
looking up the exit routes in case need arise
I was busy with two chappathis on hand
and watching the turbulence, quite unattached
the speeding train progressed in normal style
after lapse of 10 minutes, peace returned to S 8 coach
my unperturbed mental strength, may look odd to you
because, I have been returning after a horoscope consultation
by a very renowned Jyothisht, that I will live up to 90 -
with immense confidence, I stretched out in my lower berth
within five minutes, another crashing sound of something
going down, accompanied by rude music of chains
alas…………the middle- berth had given way,
the heavy bench had crushed me to an instant death.

Why is this poem written in first person, instead, third person could have been chosen! People believe and seek comfort in many things..one of them is astrology...
