Spacewalker Poem by Petra Novakova

Spacewalker

Left and right are my right and wrong she said
Gave me a sultry smile and slyly winked my way
Her left eye was a perfect shade of forget-me-nots
Her right eye the color of a cloudless summer sky

The odds were stacked against her, failure a certainty
Yet, she gave a single wave and sashayed far away
Left leg on the polished metal floor of the future
Right leg still on the dirty ground of our past

Plunging into the deep cold space she did not hesitate
Even as her ship plummeted down to Earth and back again
Her left hand not twitching, all flawless and steady
Her right hand dancing lightly over the control panel

Fearless and cunning was the woman of my dreams
She who paved the way for the kingdom to come
Left hemisphere covered in dazzling green life
Right hemisphere illuminated by soothing blue light
