Sport And Me Poem by Phil Soar

Sport And Me

Rating: 5.0

He looked upon me as a challenge of sorts
But all I was bothered with, was playing sports
My teacher, determined to teach me all sorts
But all I was botherd with was playing sports

If there was a field or a park in my vision
It wasn't that hard for me making decisions
What sport could I play, instead of just listening
To a teacher who clearly made teaching his mission

My school reports always read "He can do better"
Occasionally mum & dad got an odd letter
"Was Philip at home, because he's not at school"
Instead I was on a field learning sports rules

My mind wasn't in it you see, from the start
The only thing worthwhile was sport on my part
So they gave me detention, and kept me indoors
It's amazing how many games are played on the floor

The teacher tried hard, but for me I was lost
And now in my sixties, I do count the cost
Had I paid more attention, Kept my eye on the ball
Maybe my knowledge wouldn't count for F**K all! .

Very well written, it reminded me my school days and the fun and pun we used to do. Thoughtful poem, Phil.
