Standing Beside You Poem by Alexander Downie

As tears fall on to snow she will stand close beside you,
her arms will comfort you and keep you safe from the wind.
As the gathered frowns look down into newly turned earth,
she will lighten hearts with a familiar smile and brush your cheek.

As memories are lowered and words spoken over oak she will listen,
every word a tearless testament to her undying love for you all.
From the spot where she will lay will grow the brightest flowers,
and the seeds she gently nurtured will stand bowed but tall.
