Standing Still Poem by kawambee thomas

Standing Still

I should be studying now but for that I'm uninspired
I should have my head in the book yet for that I'm feelin tired
I should have started the lesson for completion but I don’t know where to begin
I should have stayed focused on my mission so that when I'm up to fight I win
I know that what I need and want will always be something different
It’s so hard to do the best I can at what I have no interest in
This school thing is getting harder and harder and I have yet to sit in class
I'm not sure what I'm getting into but I need to figure it out and fast
Lord please give me some direction, from you that’s all I ask
No miracles for cancer cures just a simple arrow on a map
No millions or a truck or car I don’t need material things
I'm like a grounded bird who just needs a set of wings
I feel like I have walked enough it’s time for me to fly
I've been on the ground forever and id like to touch the sky
So if you have the time to lift me up ill be right here waiting
Trying not to disappoint you while time is dissipating
