Stolen Treasure Poem by Pondering Portrait

Stolen Treasure

A stolen treasure
That does not belong to me
That should never be mine
But that I’ve claimed

Something too beautiful
Too painful not to have
Too uniquely exquisite
Something I’ll never find again

One that I’ve dreamt of
But was always too impossible
But that I’ve always yearned for
Till I stumbled upon it

It simply lay there
Just within reach
Just simply unclaimed
Inviting me to take it

I have a stolen treasure
That belongs to someone else
That should not be mine
But that I’ve claimed
