Sometimes the future looks so bleak
That with the two eyes open you see nothing good
All around challenges compound you about
That you wonder the possibility if any
To extricate yourself from the quagmire.
The heavens seem too high to touch
The ground below too deep to step
That you find yourself hanging nowhere
Left and right you can touch nothing
That you begin to doubt your judgment.
How on earth did I get here?
When I thought I planned so well
Were the odds strongly against me?
Or did I unknowingly planned amiss
Or just maybe I said 'yes' when the gods said 'no'

Despite my 'suggestions' etc. I give Stranded In My Brain ***** five stars, perhaps...partly....because 'Brain' looks so much like my REAL first name, Brian! !
Thanks Bri. The semblance of 'BRAIN and BRIAN' is good humour.
'matrix': (one definition) 'A situation or surrounding substance within which something else originates, develops, or is contained.' Maybe here matrix refers to 'challenges' and current circumstances?
Yes matrix here refers to challenges but I have changed it to quagmire
Kingsley, my favorite line is 'Or just maybe I said 'yes' when the gods said 'no' ' I don't personally believe in gods or God (anymore) , BUT what else IS/are there to explain all we see/hear/feel/think? ? ? I don't have a (good) answer.
Gee, 'hanging nowhere' does NOT sound like a pleasant place to be! ! ! stanza 3: I'd say 'were the odds', not 'was the odds'. And I'd use 'plan', not 'planned', a typo perhaps?
Truly hang nowhere is not a pleasant place to be really. That is why I thought my brain was stranded
