Stranded In The Universe Poem by Barry Middleton

Stranded In The Universe

Rating: 5.0

I am stranded in the universe
my dreams became a wretched curse
I heard that space and time can never end
I have to say I tried
until I finally cried
but solitude is still my only friend

some are born to be alone they say
I doesn't matter anyway
the road to circumstance has never changed
and the Milky Way ignores
all the things a man implores
the plan it seems is very very strange

I sleep alone each lonely night
it can't be wrong so it must be right
it seems to me there is no other way
a ball rolls down a hill
quite regardless of my will
I guess I must accept it come what may

I stare into the silent sky
until my time has come to die
and sing my songs of things I cannot know
beyond the stars and moon
the time is coming soon
to dance in space where lonely spirits go

A heart-touching write on loneliness. An overwhelming sense of doom often assails the lonely heart. Universe is mostly indifferent. Man cannot solve the mystery of the designs that this universe has for each one of us.10

So I sing my songs of things I cannot know. Thanks Nosheen.

Nicely crafted poem probing a man's lonely existence in this vast and limitless universe. It also seeks to know the ultimate destination of this life's journey and what happens in the after-life. Thanks. the plan it seems is very very strange to dance in space where lonely spirits go

Thank you for commenting. I do wish we could really know that ultimate destination.
