Strange Poem by RAJESHWARI SRINIVASAN

Strange

strange

Strange are we, the educated class
so called intelligent, so called wise.
We know the worldly ways, accept with grace
try to fit in with all our might in haste.
We want to own it all, become super tall
we utilize talents to earn a lot.
We do not want instead to halt, look around,
is all going well, is everything sound?
No! , never seem to bother.
We hit out at parties, enjoy our success,
but never seem to care when to take a breather!
For the beggars on road we never bother,
righteousness and justice we care for no more,
the joy of success blinding us forever,
the sensitivity of concern gone forever.
Our children we fend for and support,
with pride and honour, not feeling at all,
for the children with parents having meager.
We visit holy places with best of comforts
we make deal with God for happiness in return
where are we heading to, shall we stop to think?
Nay, life is just not all this!
But to feel the pain, to see around
to help the needy to turn around
Doom's day is for all and none is spared
what if we change places, do we really care?
