I opened the fridge &
Grabbed your heart in a jar.
I spread it between two slices
Of bread & put the jar back.
Recognizing that you need it
More than I.
Eventually I'll be full, savoring every
Bite.
Living and breathing, more alive
Than we've ever been.
Spread between my lips & yours.
Grief lasts but a moment, fulfilled
By a jar you feel that you no longer
Need.
Woven between fibers of bread,
The intimate craving I've given to you.
My hands a shelter made for you,
The opening of the fridge a light
That scatters all doubt,
With my help you've spilled the deepest
Part of yourself in a sticky mess,
That I've cleaned with my fingers,
Clumped & spread.
The signs visible around my mouth.
It's resurgence a reminder,
Everytime I lick my lips
