Streets Of Blood Poem by James Waters

Streets Of Blood

Rating: 5.0

A young mother and her daughter
Tease and laugh and play
Their world full of ugliness
Forgotten for today
Graffiti, hate and crime
Another time another place
Their painful circumstance
Together they will face
But the reaper waits outside their door
Their forgotten reality he’ll restore
For this is the night
Fate takes a hand
And takes them both
Home to glory land
A thousand shots ring out
Twenty find their mark
To render a sickly truth
Both gross and stark
For a moment of anger
And the wrong address
Have left two innocent lives
A shattered bloody mess
One hundred million apologies
Can not erase the pain
Brought to a family
By a world gone insane
LA Kings, M-13
The Blood’s the Crip’s and more
Boy’s playing men
Have set our streets to war
They have no concept
Of what it is to die
For a cause that is just
Their cause is a lie

From the opening lines the ending sadly seems inevitable. A thought provoking poem. Thanks.
