Treasure Island

Mandi Ducroq

(9 April 1974 / Cape Town)

Where do you find the strength
Is it inside of you
Are you born with it
Or do you have to learn
Am I strong enough to make it on my own
Can I get through this life alone

Nothing affects me, I am strong
I am happy and confident
I can do anything, I don't need anyone
When they look at me
That is what they see

I am scare, uncertain, lonely
I am not sure if I have the strength for this life
I don't know if I can make it through
Guess what
I am human
I hurt, just like you

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
