Stress Poem by Orlando De Los Santos

Stress

I cannot stress my words enough
I cannot force them out
To make a sound
Their muffled like lightning on the ground

I’m neutral
No emotions towards you
A defense mechanism like a moat surrounding
A king’s castle

I want to talk but I’m trapped inside a French
Mine
I want to tell you how much you attract me like
An apple to gravity

But I have low self-esteem so me and you
Is impossible like reality

I want to hold your hand and walk you to class
While we talk of times of you and I

I wish I had the courage like other guys
To go up to you and say “hi”
To get your number and text you “good night”

If my words could fill me with courage like the Marine
Corps Hymth
Funny right?
How I ‘am brave in a fight
But coward out in a situation with the opposite sex

I do not want to play games
Nor do I want to have sex, leaving you
Without shame
All I want is you to smile
To laugh at my ill timed jokes
To meet mommy and daddy
But my words cannot stress enough
How much
I like you
