Suddenly Still Poem by Benjamin Paa Willie

Suddenly Still

Church bell tolls, tolls everywhere
Chaotic movement here and there
Stumbles, rumbles and grumbles; queer
Metallic sounds of the heart
Soul and body do part
The life that was is suddenly gone
Life is still
But still goes on
The life that was is suddenly still
Kwabena your body is still
But in our memory you go on
The love you showed
The souls you touched
The hymns you sung
Each act of yours still goes on
In our memory you live on
The seeds you sowed
The cloths you patched
The bells you rung
In our memory lives on
Forever, Eternal, each one lives on
Kwabena, Kwabena your death was queer
Kwabena you may not be here
But you are never gone
Though still, you still are
In our hearts, you still are
