Summer Holidaze © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Summer Holidaze ©

Summer holidays are here -
With laughing, happy eyes,
Children have descended,
like hordes of butterflies!

Little boys upon the floor,
play with match box cars;
A monopoly game goes on
and on and on for hours.

Little girls paint pictures,
of whimsy birds and places;
Glitter shining everywhere,
and on their happy faces.

I cannot reach the hallway,
with train tracks all around;
Bouncing balls bounce off my head,
Such a happy sound!

There's a craft lesson on,
in the sunlit living room;
Complicated origamy,
dispelling signs of gloom.

As I serve strawberry milk,
at this very jolly time;
I couldn't help but scrawl it down,
and put it into rhyme!
