Summer Never Lasts Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Summer Never Lasts

I walked outside & forgot
the reason why.
I suppose to feel closer to you
To feel the warmth of laying
Under you.
I blended in with everyone else
So you wouldn't notice.
Most were just there,
Nowhere in particular to be.
Being this close to you
Made me sweat.
Anticipation mixed with nervousness.
The nervousness of being away
Far too long.
I walked outside pretending
To forget the reason why.
I know that if you looked
In my direction,
I'd forget everything that I was
Going to say.
Summer never lasts too long
Although the moon appears.
I know that you're still there
