Summit Poem by Robert Sheridan

Summit

The unfinished parts
... Of life
Desultory strife
... Of the plain
Wall beyond wall
... Of redefinition
Effects
... Of inhumanity
Pry into your secrets
... Of off-base divided
Essence rolls
... Of separated souls
Effectively from other practices
... Of a hidden vice
Climb the highest summit
... Of “I wish I could be there”
Silence at the top
... Of sterile thunder
Mortal splendor
... Of perishing the thought beware
Define but do not define
... Of constipated meaning
Lies beget them
... Of palpability resigned
The distant summit lends enchantment
... Of a laborious view
But it is better to crawl than to balk
... Of edging towards the clouds
Ride the shade to spacious skies
... Of climbing away from fear
Embrace the goal
... Of reaching the summit.
