Sunshine. Poem by Jessica Dawn

she is young, bold, and beautiful- this is what ive learned
but she feels alone in this world, with nowhere to turn
not trusting anyone, in fear of getting burned
the lonliness is sickening and makes her stomach churn
so she cries out for someone, but thinks that noone heard

looking for direction - someone to take her by the hand
she wants someone to listen, but doesnt think they'll understand
so she keeps it bottled up inside, and it eats at her like quicksand
she cant hold it in anymore, how much more can she stand?
when she's ready to let it out, im the one to which she can

she is my family and i love her with all of my heart
i want to be there for her, even though we're miles apart
we've built a great relationship, although we got a late start
she encounters many things in life, some are happy, some are tart
but i know she will prevail regardless - she is strong and smart

i'll be there to help and guide her every step along the way
i only hope she learns a thing or two from all the things i say
i learn something new about her each and every day
she doesn't quite believe me yet, but thats perfectly okay
ill just have to prove to her i MEANT it when i said im here to stay

we talk to each other back and forth every day and night
i do my best to comfort her and make her feel alright
i encourage her to keep on pushing and not give the fight
she sometimes sees her life as dark, i want to show her light
and i will never give up on her, ill keep trying with all my might

although were separated by about 2000 miles
and we wont get to see each other for quite another while
were becoming closer than ever and with that theres no denial
i just want to see her happy and do my best to make her smile
if noone else she has her cousin, brother and best friend Kyle.


i always write about the things that really influence me, and the things that change my life, and the things that i feel strongly about.. so i want you to know that you influence me to be a better person, and i love the relationship we've built and i look forward to building it further. print this out if you need to, so you always have it with you... but if you ever need some reassurance, or dont know who to turn to... just read over this, and you'll know where to go. i love you jessi, and want the best things for you.
