A phone rings, It's time! It's time!
Excited voices shout
A mad dash, Come on! Let's go!
Delight abounds throughout
The family gathers in a room
Quiet voices talk
Pacing, waiting anxiously
The day is getting dark
Kids sit quietly with a book
Some play upon the floor
Great-Grandpa thinks excitedly
Of Generation Four
The father wonders as he walks
Are things all good to go?
The crib is up, the bottles washed
Can't wait to see her grow
Will I be a patient dad
That loves & laughs & plays?
His mother stops & hugs her son
Says until the end of days!
The smell of coffee drifts on by
Time is dragging on
Is all alright, is she ok?
It's not long til dawn
The nurse then enters quietly
Expectant faces show
The smiles grows upon her face
There's something you should know
The mother's fine, all is ok
We didn't have a clue
Let's take you in to see your girls
Surprise! Your one is two!
