Swallow Me Whole Poem by Serena Constance Grobler

Swallow Me Whole

Swallow me whole
Bleed me dry
Take the time
Make me cry

You made me this
Made me that
Took what’s true
Distorted that

An eye for an eye
A life for a life
When will it stop?
The pain and strife

But I love you
It seems like I want to be hurt
But I need you
I just want to treat you like dirt
How will it end?
My inner core wants all this pain
Once we were friends
Our lives will never be the same

Swallowed you whole
Bled you dry
Took the time
Made you cry

I made you this
Made you that
Took what’s true
Distorted that

An eye for an eye
A life for a life
Why can’t I stop?
The pain and strife

But I love you
It seems like I want to be hurt
But I need you
I just want to treat you like dirt
How will it end?
My inner core wants all this pain
Still be my friend?
Our lives will never be the same

Next time around
I am gold
Make my sound
Feel no cold

I am this
I was that
All truth no
Distorting that

Revenge just pain
No more no less
Nothings the same
Just you I guess

But I love you
It seems like I want to be hurt
But I need you
I just want to treat you like dirt
How will it end?
My inner core wants all this pain
Could we be friends?
Our lives will never be the same
