Sweetheart Poem by Leonard Rebello

Sweetheart

Rating: 5.0

When you learn to die that’s when you learn to live
When you break a heart do you bear the weight massive

When you walk the sands of time in search of the oasis
When you feel of the love ageless

When you learn to take a breath do you learn to swim
When you swim do you learn to out swim

When you learn to caress the timeless beauty
When you see and claim her as your baby

When you hold the one thing priceless
When you cling to her despite barring your bareness

When you let her go even when you heart breaks
When the love you felt cloaks the depths of your numbness

When you feel the dread of the coming dusk
When your heart wrings itself inside out with the sad, sad musk.

When you feel the soft touch of the time gone on you
When you remember the wet tissue

When a memory pops when a word reminds
When your heart and soul fight it out until everything grinds

When you grapple, grope for a breath or a touch
When you know you gonna use memory as a crutch

When the world seems to fall, shatter apart
When what seems all yours depart

When the pain becomes so numb that it envelops your soul and heart
When all you can think about is god please no please no don’t take away my sweetheart
