Taking A Pic! Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Taking A Pic!

I took a picture in front of a mirror,
While only wearing my birthday suit!
I sent it in the mail to the girl I loved,
Knowing she would get a big hoot!

Several weeks flew by like lightening.
I was patiently waiting to hear right back!
Did she get a laugh out of my photo?
Did she wet her pants when she laughed?

I jumped into my beat up jalopy.
It had a rusted hood like the floors.
I put some boards down top of floor mats,
But be careful if you close the doors!

I arrived at the home of my girlfriend.
It was gone, apartments now stood in it’s place.
I entered and walked into a lobby,
What do you think was staring me in the face?

My picture was blown up and in a large frame.
The words below it were not nice at all.
They said “If anyone here recognizes this man,
The police would sure love your call! ”

A woman then tapped on my shoulder,
I followed her because I was stunned.
She dragged me inside of her apartment,
I remembered right then how to run!
