Tears

We cry yet fail to understand
We weep and wonder why
Though truth’s revealed within the hand
Of Jesus Christ on high

We cry we weep we scream out loud
From child till old and grey
We hope in faith to see the cloud
That heralds judgement day

We cry we weep with joy untold
We laugh we dance and sing
On each our heads a crown of gold
From Christ our Lord and King

We cry love’s tears the world unseen
Love’s pearls of priceless dew
Joyously shed by Jesus’ queen
Through glorious birth anew

But who cries tears in fervent prayer?
What brings us to our knees?
Who assures us Heaven’s share?
Who hears our humble pleas?

Is God’s concern for human needs?
Is Jesus’ love still ours?
How is man rid of worldly weeds?
How can we gain love’s powers?

Whilst hatred raises high its head
Whilst anger forms its fist
Is not the flesh to God still dead?
Or does His love persist?

Till wisdom reaches out her hand
Till knowledge comes to reign
Till Jesus leads to understand
Man’s tears will still remain.
