Tears Of Greed Poem by Deng Deng Akuien

Tears Of Greed

A poor old man and his wife
Lived on the dirty side of the city life
Each night the old man would shade his tears
For his failures that have consumed his life for years
Starting with his need to drink beer
Until all his hardships seem to disappear
On one of his cold nights he stared at the moon
And wondered how he could change his life’s tune
Than he knew what he had to do
He looked around and saw nothing
But what the night sky had turn blue
So he closed his eyes and began to pray
“Dear god, I am in need of your help,
A way to cast my hardships away”
Than he cried again
That night the old man cried in his sleep
Next morning he squeezed out his halve size sheets
And looked at the ground to see what looked like gold
At that moment he no longer felt so old
“Wake up honey,
God has shown us mercy”
Every day he drank red wine
Droved around in his new ride
And when to sleep with his eyes dry
Months when by and all seemed fine
But the rich old man wanted everything money can buy
However he had no reason to cry
He gazed at his wife with a smile
Than stabbed her nine times
Destroying all he had that money couldn’t buy
Fall to his knees
And out purred tears of gold, tears of pain
And tears of greed
