That Photo Poem by Phil Soar

That Photo

A striking resemblance, that photo of me
Sat on the mantelpiece for all to see
Reminding me when I had just turned three
And now that I'm older it fascinates me

How come I turned into worrying Phil
Relying on a pacemaker, and the odd pill
Keeping me going, and enjoying the thrill
Of life and it's foibles, with more time to kill

When remembering youth, and the games I would play
Speaking such garbage, yet with nothing to say
A shame that life's journey is edging away
Oh how I wish my youth came back this way

That photo reminds me that life moves so fast
Age leaps upon us, and youth doesn't last
So enjoy what you can, but don't live in the past
At birth, all your future was already cast
