The Ant And The Grasshopper Poem by Bill Simmons

The Ant And The Grasshopper

Rating: 5.0

The ant fell in love with the grasshopper
The grasshopper said, No way!
All you want to do is farm the town
I just want to hop around and play

You take everything so seriously
Cutting paths and gathering leaves
No I say, just go away
I’m missing out on my day!

The ant brough the grasshopper a rose
It carried it upon its back
He said, Girl, you brighten my world
Am I now on the right track?

She said, NO! I don’t want no rose!
You must be blind I say!
You must be blind, the blind ant kind!
Now please just go away!

The ant brought the grasshopper a spider leg
He had fought and won on the battlefield
She said, Oh dear! , I don’t want that near
No, no, no, I say still!

The ant brought her a mulberry branch
Filled with ripe and juicy leaves
She said, Hmmm, They do look good
Why can’t you just leave me be!

He said, But I am so in love with you
I don’t know what else to do
She handed him her glasses and said, Put these on
Maybe now you will see the truth!

He said, Oh my! He could clearly see
You are more beautiful than I could ever believe
He said Girl, You’re everything in my world
Please wont you marry me

Now if you look down in that small little anthill town
And you see hopping ants around
Know he did his part and won over her heart
And somehow happiness was found.
