In all of us, a beast lays waiting,
in the dark part of our soul.
It waits in the shadows
to blacken out heart,
wanting us to do
its dark bidding here.
Some are over powered
by the beast within,
their dark deed are everywhere.
Others control its craving,
quelling its black thoughts,
leaving it locked in the dark, in which it dwells.
We have heard of the battles,
good vs. evil,
light vs. dark.
Therefore, we must be strong,
and never let it out,
that beast that lies within.

I don't want this beast in me, , , , I'd rather it be the spirit of a kind soul and loving one that is able to overcome this dreadful beast you write of, which is one of the reasons that this journey we are on is called 'earth' and not 'heaven.'..well thought out write.....Let the caged beast free say I, gone from one and all.....marci.xo
Your Poem has the same title as mine and the same feeling and story, very interesting to see different conceptions. Read mine and see the similarities
The the beast is in each and every one of us...Sad to say not all can keep it under caged...10
