The Caged Bird Poem by Zillur Rahman Shuvro

The Caged Bird

I want to hear heart-rending song of a caged bird
Such I hear the song of splitting leaves of coconut
In the gentle breeze!
The painful glass of a caged bird is full to the brim in tears
And its throat is soaked in anguish and sorrow
Alas! Let my soul stealthily to go to downtrodden soul.
The bird that flied as dreamy wings of the blue sky
The bird that taught the alphabet of freedom to grasshopper
The bird that sang emotional song sitting on love-starved nest
That bird why is pierced with the arrow of deprivation?
That bird why'll draw portrait of poinsettia on its heart's easel?
In which way your inner soul laments for your lost father!
In which way your inner soul laments for your lost mother!
In which way your inner soul laments for your lost brother!
In which way your inner soul laments for your lost sister!
And In which way your inner soul laments for your lost lover!
Like the lamentation of your inner soul it laments too…
The rain- song is outside the cage but inside the song of isolation
Compassion of God and peeping and prying of free life
Stopped like a callous point.
The song which is sung by a caged bird…in all likelihood same:
I'm an innocent bird! I'm not for entertainment! I'm also a mother
Don't cry for me…my sweet baby! I'm unfortunately here!
I know you're hungry! Have patience! Such I feel…you feel too
I love you like previous…yet I love you and love you-u-u-u…
