The Callous And Disrespectful Poem by Francis Duggan

The Callous And Disrespectful

They shoot at and kill creatures for their sense of fun
And leave them to rot in the heat of the sun
As food for the blow fly maggots some men are so cruel
For to kill without need for their pleasure is fuel.

The wild creatures of the Land and Sea and the birds of the air
Due to man's callousness and selfishness becoming rare
And extinction is forever as we've often heard before
And many creatures once plentiful are not seen anymore.

To kill for survival is not an offence
But to kill things we won't eat does not make for any sense
Some people who hunt with the dog and the gun
Will shoot to kill anything that fly or run.

At the weekend they go out with their dog and gun
To shoot at and kill creatures for their sense of fun
And leave their dead victims to rot where they lay
To Wildlife and Nature disrespect they only pay.
