The Car Wouldn'T Go Poem by Raymond J Wright

The Car Wouldn'T Go

“The wounded
are much wiser”

.. And I sing along
having learned
recently
exactly
how very true that is

But, somehow
I never learn

I said
“Take me home”
but, the car wouldn’t go
so he ran off
into the night
leaving me all alone

... And there you were
in the back of my head
where
I’ve been keeping you for years
holding my hand
I think it’s time
to let you go

I have to do this
on my own
