The Chain Of Hatred Poem by Daya Nandan

The Chain Of Hatred

Where is the love, where is our compassion?
Why are we letting hatred ruin our nation?
What is happening to society, where is our empathy?
Are the times when morals were held high just a memory?

We are drowning in crime, we are suffocating in vice,
Our people have hearts colder than a bucket of ice,
We throw out virtues in trade of money and fame,
We neglect our elders and duties with no remorse or shame,

We set bad examples for the younger generation,
The impressionable new leaders that will one day lead our nation,
We are better than this, we must change for a better tomorrow,
Before the people of our nation weep and cry in sorrow,

The chain of hatred often starts from the examples we show,
For those become the foundation for the way young minds grow,
We must bring change but it must start from ourselves first,
Only then can the chain of hatred be reversed!
