The Chains Of Wealth Poem by ART PAUL SCHLOSSER

The Chains Of Wealth

The Chains Of Wealth
The chains of wealth
Have taken hold
So now your faith
It can not grow
The TV set
With beacon call
Is telling you
The praises of the mall
The conveyance of
Your fancy car
Will take you to
The restaurant bar
Your books and games
Jewelry and chains
Have captured you
In empty pain
You've had the lobster
Shrimp and steak
But time with your Lord
You do forsake
Because Jesus is not
At the movie theatre
Or instant coffee
Or a can of beer
It is hard
For you to hear
His voice of love
Truthful and clear
Saying: "Do you love me
more than these
Take up your cross
My love is free
And it will satisfy your soul
Not leave you empty like the world"
