Love seeks not
to scourge nor scatter,
to hurt nor hate,
to negate nor neglect,
to deceive nor destroy.

Love seeks
to encourage and endure,
to reconcile and rebuild,
to assist and accentuate
to bless and bolster.

Love does not
inflict nor infuriate
and folds not her hands
nor shuts the door
when sorrow besieges.

But finds the courage,
though besieged with sorrow,
to unfold her hands
and embrace.
