The Coldness Outside Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Coldness Outside

the fact is
this is not much of an
important matter, hence
can just be set aside
taken for granted
and someone asks if you
can still recall it
all you can do is
smile
to pretend that you
remember and
that you wish you leave it
as is,
a passing sigh, a gesture
without meaning,
a slight change of
the putting of the arms
the hiding of the fingers
inside your pocket
because it is just too cold
outside that
it even penetrated the fabric
of your pants.

the world is so cold outside
that you keep your fists
inside your pockets
and walk towards home
fast and sure.
