The Creamy Moonlight Poem by Portia Burton

The Creamy Moonlight

I was so happy
That I couldn't sleep,
And on that came to greet me
The full moon at my window! ...

Her smile spilled all over my room,
I gathered that creamy moonlight
Hungrily in my cupped hands,
Danced and danced with joy
Till my legs got tired.......

But then I was perturbed,
What should be done
Of the gathered moonlight...
After a pause I drank it all,
And lo, I started glowing bright!
