The Devil In You Poem by Alfred Ramos

The Devil In You

Some believe, others grieve
That you only live once
Others believe you come back twice
Or even thrice
I believe I have been here before
Because I wanted more
Many times, many places
Many crimes, many faces
Always you come
Always a different drum
But always the same
You tricked me into your game
And after the pain
I remember, you again
Once more
Like you were keeping score
Why did you come back to me
When you can’t guarantee
Some peacefulness and serenity
Have I hurt you, where and when
You make it so hard to comprehend
I ask myself do I remember
Was it June, September or November
But here I am drying the tears you made me cry
You didn’t stay around to say goodbye
The heart ache that you cause me
The heartbeat that seems to pause me
So how much have you tried
To take away my pride
To take me to the end of my rope
To take away my hope
Of ever loving again
