The Dreaming For An Eden Poem by Raymond Cabrera

The Dreaming For An Eden

If I could reform my country into an Eden again,
I’d plant love; I’d pull the root of greed and corruption
I’d plow for unity, sow peace; I’d keep it serene and quiet,
So everyone would hear every citizens cry.

If only I have courage to change my country folks,
I’d soften their hearts of stone and change them into
A vigilant citizens, awaken their senses, for them to see
The sorrows while voicing out their rights

If I had charms and magic; I’d bestow love and wisdom
To the cruel masters, to the warring politicians
I’d stop the senseless war; I’d cease the violence,
I’d engrave hope and spread charity in all their hearts

If only I could create a nation where poverty doesn’t exist
Where there’s nobody left unsheltered and naked
Where there’s nobody dies from hunger and illness
And where everyone put Jesus into their lives

If only, then there would only be love that reigns,
No more hatred and resentments,
Then, there would only be truth that prevails,
No more tricks or lies and deceits
Then, there would only be peace and justice
No longer war, no longer oppression

O how beautiful it is to dream for a paradise,
For an Eden that only death is the price!
Yet barely remained as a dream…
…forever.
