The Elephant 2 Poem by Hillary Unknown

The Elephant 2

The elephant stands tall in the grass
Waiting for the day to pass
He stiffens as his ears perk
Someone is standing on his turf
He’s glad that he’s all alone
It’s easier to fight lone
He hears it approach
He turns to run
But it’s all done
The predator pounces
As the elephant uses his extra ounces
He twirls and spins
Hoping the attacker will give in
To no avail
The elephant shakes his tail
He comes to a peak
But he’s too weak
The predator senses it
And soon goes for the hit
The elephant lies
Knowing no one will hear his cries
As the attacker bounds away
He hears the dogs bay
The elephant smiles
And knows it will all be over in awhile
