The Erection Poem by Phil Soar

The Erection

I built up an erection
It took almost a week
It left me almost breathless
And I couldn't really speak
Its rigid form surprised me
As I looked on with surprise
I'd made it stand so vertically
Right before my eyes
Before I started work on it
I had to have a plan
I'd never built one quite this tall
Well, not one that would stand
I felt it was a platform
From which I could extend
Although after some excercise
I saw it start to bend
I knew my work would be short lived
I'd never made one last
Most before, had hit the floor
Before much time had passed
So there stood my erection
For once I could feel proud
It made quite the impression
And It almost drew a crowd
I built a frame around it
At least it wouldn't fall
All I could see was scaffolding
That was over ten feet tall
Forgive me if I made you think
That this was just a trick
It's just a home extension
I was building with some bricks.
