The Fairies Poem by R K Summers

The Fairies

When the sky begins to pale
And shimmer into light
Faëries creep behind the veil
And kiss goodbye the night

Friend or foe, the faëries hiss
Beyond all thoughts of time
Dance with some forgotten bliss
And sing with joy sublime

I would warn you away, friend
If I thought you would heed
But the fae dance without end
Dance with glaring speed

Once you seek us, there you’ll see
A faëries ring of flowers
A changeling child you’ll surely be
And years will pass like hours

Dance eternal under twilight
Sing forever and stay.
But you, my sweet, your delight
Has lasted just a day

Watched by none but glittering eyes
Are we sweet or wild?
Soon we fly through ruby skies
And you become beguiled

A whisper beckons through the trees
Summons you to the glade
Where faëries dance in twos and threes
Proceed in their parade

Close your eyes and forget your past
Play with us forever
The magic mushroom ring, we cast
To keep us bright and clever

Stay with us within this place
No mortal can discover
You’ll lose your soul but gain your grace
And become a faerie lover
